Seeburg Jukebox Restoration And Repair

September, 1953: Continuing the success of their 100 selection 45 rpm mechanism, Seeburg introduces two new jukebox models. The Seeburg HF100G and Seeburg M100W Jukeboxes, both having the same basic cabinet design. The Seeburg G & W Jukeboxes both feature a larger glass dome than the previous years (this time, housing the title strips as well). The cabinet finish for both Seeburg G & W Jukeboxes, was a Light Grey wood grain with the grain running in many perpendicular patterns. Both featured a Sky Blue Seeburg mechanism cover with Burnt Orange mechanism base and record rack. The side mechanism mirrors were cut in a triangle pattern.
The Seeburg M100W Jukebox featured light up grill pilasters with a confetti pattern, diamond shapes scattered on the grill, Burnt Orange side record rack covers and it featured a Mono sound system.

Also in September, 1953: Seeburg introduces another first for a Jukebox, “High Fidelity” Sound. The Seeburg HF100G Jukebox featured the first “High-Fidelity” sound system and two speakers, a 15″ and a 4″ tweeter

Cosmetically, the Seeburg G Jukebox featured Stainless Steel grill pilasters, (instead of illuminated, like the W) and the mechanism side covers were painted Sky Blue, (instead of Burnt Orange, like the W)

July, 1954: Seeburg introduces the Seeburg HF100R Jukebox

The Seeburg R Jukebox was the first to really utilize the new “Hi-Fi” sound system by having a total of 5 speakers (two of which are located on the side of the cabinet). This adds to making the Seeburg HF100R Jukebox one of the most collectible Jukeboxes Seeburg built in the 1950’s. The cabinet finish for the Seeburg R Jukebox, featured a light wood grain finish on the sides, with a dark Burled wood finish toward the front and continued under the speaker grill. The Seeburg R Jukebox featured a Sky Blue mechanism cover, Dark Blue side covers and illuminated “100” selection end caps, all surrounded by a Gold fluted aluminum panel. The speaker grill area featured Bright Gold cloth with five fluted glass panels, each separated by chrome “Waterfall” castings, lit by a Blue grill diffuser

August, 1955: Seeburg introduces two new Jukebox models, the Seeburg V 200 (the first 200 selection 45rpm Jukebox) and the Seeburg 100J Jukebox (which shares the same basic cabinet design as the Seeburg R and offers 100 selection). The Seeburg J features “Hi-Fi” sound. However, without the additional speakers

The 100J features a Yellow mechanism cover, White side panels and illuminated “100” selection end caps

The cabinet sides of the Seeburg J Jukebox, were slightly different from the Seeburg R. They featured a Mahogany plastic veneer and a raised panel covered in a Woven Cane plastic veneer

The speaker grill for the Seeburg J Jukebox features a large rectangular mesh panel, supported and surrounded by four chrome rods, illuminated by a Red, Green and Blue diffuser. Coin equipment was “Single” pricing (all song selections are the same price). Accepting 5, 10, or 25 cents. 1 play for a nickel, 2 plays for a dime, or six plays for a quarter. The coins were then stored in a canvas bag with the capacity of approximately $150.00

The Seeburg 100J was the economy model for 1955, offered to smaller locations or those with a lower budget. It originally retailed for $1095.00 (a savings of $100.00 over the $1195.00 Seeburg V200 top end model for that year)

October of 1956: Seeburg introduces the 100JL Jukebox featuring a light wood finish (“L” for light). More specifically, the cabinet sides of the Seeburg JL were covered in a Bleached Mahogany plastic veneer

The 100JL features a Yellow mechanism cover, Green side panels and illuminated “100” selection end caps

The speaker grill area for the Seeburg JL Jukebox features a large rectangular mesh panel, supported and surrounded by four chrome rods, identical to the Seeburg 100J Jukebox. However, the Seeburg JL Jukebox has its own unique illuminated grill diffuser colored Red, Yellow and Blue in a rectangular pattern.
