Meanwhile, the major record labels were replacing the old “Bake-o-lite” 78 rpm record with a new, all vinyl micro-groove 45 rpm record October, 1950: Wanting to stay ahead of the competition, Seeburg introduces the first Jukebox dedicated to the new 45 rpm record. The Seeburg M100B Jukebox (introduced for the 1951 model year) October, 1951: Seeburg introduces the M100BL Jukebox. A “Light” cabinet finish version of the M100B, “L” for light finish. Seeburg C Jukebox Restoration and Repair. Grand America Jukebox Fully Restored this Seeburg M100C Jukebox, which arrived to our shop in pretty rough shape. After our Seeburg C Jukebox Restoration, it now has the correct wood cabinet finish, correct mechanism colors and all new chrome trim. Another Seeburg C Jukebox as it arrived for restoration. The original wood finish on most 50’s Seeburg Jukeboxes, was really more of a decal, placed over the wood cabinet. These decals scratched very easily, forcing most owners to paint their jukebox cabinets with what ever color paint they had around. Both before photos above show non-factory examples of this, and how most Seeburg C Jukeboxes arrive in our shop, for restoration

The Seeburg 161 Jukebox
Touch Here For Seeburg 201/161 Jukebox Specifics January, 1958: Seeburg introduces two new Jukebox models, the Seeburg 161 (the first 160 selection Jukebox, thought to be the ideal size of selections), and the Seeburg 201 Jukebox (200 selection). Both Seeburg Jukeboxes share the same basic cabinet design and offer High Fidelity sound. The Premium model was the Seeburg 201 featuring 200 selections, while the economy model was the Seeburg 161 Jukebox featuring 160 selections. Available coin credit units for both were “S” for single pricing (all song selections were the same price). Or “D” for dual pricing (song selections can be sold at either of two values). Both were also available with an optional “H” for half dollar coin acceptor. All selections are made electronically through a magnetic tormat memory unit (with no moving parts) powered by a vacuum tube selection receiver The late 50’s styling of the Seeburg Jukeboxes took its cues from the Jet age, featuring more glass and exposed metal (chrome). The grill of the Seeburg 201 Jukebox featured “Three Jets of Chrome” (as they were advertised in the original sales brochure). Meant to look like “Jet Wings” (however, today many people describe them as 57 Chevy tail lights). The Seeburg 161 Jukebox looked similar to the 201, but in a narrower cabinet and only featuring two lighted “Jet Wings” on its grill. The mechanism in both models were surrounded in flat panel glass. The cabinet finish for the Seeburg 201 and 161 Jukebox, was a printed Dark Grey wood finish vinyl decal, adhered to the wood cabinet sides. It also featured chrome trim and much larger glass side panels than the previous years. For the Seeeburg 201 Jukebox, these large glass side panels featured silk screened artwork in Orange and White, with Gold lettering. Some Seeburg 161 Jukebox glass side panels featured Turquoise artwork. The mechanism featured an Orange mechanism cover, Dark Grey mechanism base and metal Turquoise mechanism side covers (instead of plastic like previous years). The speaker grill area features bright stainless and chrome trim. The title strips are displayed in open cataloging with heading (to better organize each genre of music, Hit Tunes, Country, Rhythm and Blues, etc.) 1958 was sort of a self correcting year for Seeburg Jukebox. They had some problems with the 1957 printed circuit boards, and chose to do away with them for the time being. Opting to return to hard wiring electronics that proved Seeburg’s reliability from the early 50’s. For this reason, many feel the the 1958 Seeburg’s are a much better Jukebox With the introduction of the 160 selection Jukebox for 1958, abd having felt it was now going to be the ideal amount of selections for the public going forward, Seeburg would discontinue the larger 201 model the following year. The 1958 Seeburg 201 was the last 200 selection Jukebox manufactured by Seeburg Seeburg 161 Jukebox dimensions: 56″ tall, 30-1/2″ wide, 26-1/2″ deep, 330 lbs Seeburg 201 Jukebox dimensions: 56-1/2″ tall, 35″ wide, 27″ deep, 374 lbs Grand America Jukebox offers three options for your Seeburg 201 Jukebox See pricing table below View our main Jukeboxes page to see everything included in both Full and Partial Restorations Email photos of your Seeburg 161/201 Jukebox to get a quote

The Premium model was the Seeburg 222 Jukebox (offering 160 selections of 45 rpm records). The very noticeable “Channel 1” and “Channel 2” signs indicating “Stereo” sound. The economy model was the Seeburg 220 Jukebox (offering 100 selections). Available coin credit units for both were “S” for single pricing (all song selections were the same price). Or “D” for dual pricing (song selections can be sold at either of two values). Both were also available with an optional “H” for half dollar coin acceptor. All selections are made electronically through a magnetic tormat memory unit (with no moving parts) powered by a vacuum tube selection receiver. This selection receiver was also available with an optional “Stepper” unit, which allows for dinner wallbox operation, remotely. This option was actually available on all Seeburg Jukebox models during the 1950’s. However, beginning with these 1959 models 220 & 222, Seeburg decided to label this option with an “R”. So as an example, you may see the model number (printed on the rear tag) as 222 DHR
The cabinet of the Seeburg 220/222 Jukeboxes feature chrome trim, a light Grey wood finish vinyl decal, adhered to the wood cabinet. This original decal was very thin, often wearing down (over years) to a plain, light grey base color (leaving many to think the Light Grey finish to be the factory look). For the first time, the wood grain ran horizontally, (it typically ran vertically in previous years). The large side glass panels are Grey with Light Pink, Black and White accents. The two mesh chrome speaker grills each feature their own “V” shaped emblem with the Seeburg “S” logo, illuminated by a colored grill diffuser. The left side grill featured a Red emblem with a Blue lighted diffuser, while the right side featured a Blue emblem with a Red lighted diffuser. The 1959 Seeburg Jukebox mechanism featured a Dark Grey mechanism base and Black metal mechanism side covers with a Light Pink mechanism cover (though each model featured a different Seeburg logo on the front of that cover, note the photos above)
The Seeburg 222 Jukebox originally retailed for $1575.00, while the Seeburg 220 Jukebox originally retailed for $1420.00. Both models were manufactured through October of 1959

Seeburg Jukebox Restoration Pricing
Seeburg Jukebox Restoration Pricing. Given these 1950’s Seeburg Jukeboxes are quite old and have usually been sitting around (not used) for many years or even decades, they will require quite a bit of work to get them going and made reliable again. This is far more than a simple repair, they require some type of restoration or rebuilding. We find once the Jukebox has been rebuilt, the major electronics and mechanical usually last around 15 years or so. By 20 years, the quality has gone down, and they need to be rebuilt again. If your Jukebox was rebuilt less than 10 years ago, and you are having a problem, it can usually be repaired simply and inexpensively. However, if your Jukebox was rebuilt more than 10 years ago (or never was) and you are having a problem, you might as well have it rebuilt.
Grand America Jukebox offers three Restoration options for your 1950’s Seeburg Jukebox
- Full Restoration
- Partial Restoration
- Or Electronics and Mechanical only
Let’s start with the basics first, the Electronics and Mechanical only Restoration. Because if your Jukebox does not work and work reliably, what is the point? For the Electronics and Mechanical only Restoration option, we rebuild the selector button assembly, credit unit (and pinbank, or memory unit on the early 50’s models). We go through the mechanism degrease/lube and replace the main motor drive shaft and motor capacitor. We also rebuild all Seeburg Jukebox electronics including the amplifier and selection receiver, replace all vacuum tubes, volume control and install a new power cord. We also check out the speakers, cartridge/needles and replace as needed. Those are the main arteries that make your Seeburg Jukebox function and sound good. Performing this basic Restoration option alone will allow your Seeburg Jukebox to work well for around 15 years or so. Having just one of these items rebuilt will only allow that item to work well. Given the age of the Jukebox, you really need to have all these items rebuilt at the same time. All this included for around $4000.00
Our Seeburg Jukebox Partial Restoration option includes everything mentioned above in the Electronics and Mechanical Only Restoration. Additionally, we clean the Jukebox cabinet, glass and chrome, replace all lighting and update to the new, electronic ballasts and/or LED, replace instruction glasses, lighted grill diffuser, (grill cloth and mirrors on early 50’s models) and casters. Make sure all door locks work, have keys and include a nice copy of the original manual. This way, your Seeburg Jukebox works, sounds great and now looks great without the cost of a Full Restoration. All this included for around $6500.00- $7000.00
And our Seeburg Jukebox Full Restoration option includes everything mentioned above in both options. Additionally, we re-chrome all castings and re-finish the wood cabinet, inside and out. We replace any flaking glass. Your Seeburg Jukebox will look like brand new. Every last nut, bolt and screw get replaced or restored. All this included for around $12,000.00- $15,000.00
